  72. I won't comment on my own driver, just on its availability. Currently,
  73. it's only available as part of my book, and the book is written in German.
  74. There are three options if you want to use my driver:
  75. - you can read German --> get the book
  76. - you can't read German, but we somehow finally find a good translator
  77.   and distributor for the US and UK --> maybe there will be an English version
  78. - there will be a stand-alone version of the driver later this year (hopefully)
  79.  
  80. As I said before, I won't comment on whether it is worth waiting for my driver.

  107. I'm trying to view a couple of demos from the archives at umich, and
  108. am having some problems - they seem to load fine, but
  109. the screen starts 'rolling' immediately - I assume I need to put my system
  110. in 50Hz mode, but the following 'fixes' also from the archives ALSO make the
  111. screen roll (before the demos load):  hertz.arc, swaphz.arc, 50hzboot.prg
  112.  
  113. I've got a Mega 4 running U.S. TOS 1.4.  Any suggestions?

  173. I have that kit, too. Or rather: I _had_ it. I disconnected it,
  174. because since it was installed, I had some troubles with the disk.
  175.  
  176. When the disk was used for more than four hours the day before,
  177. it wouldn't start up again. I nedd to shake the entire disk quite
  178. roughly to get it rotating again. I know some day this will have
  179. disastrous effects...

  181. I blame the fan thermostate for this problem. Unfortunately, although
  182. I disconnected it, I have still this startup problem.
  183. I wouldnt recommend a fan thermostate.

  225. Nope, that's where the cd command looks for directories to change
  226. to.  The Bourne, Korn and C shells for UNIX support it, too.  IMHO,
  227. that is one of the nicest features of GEMINI.

  261. CDPATH is not for CD Rom applications, it is very handy if you are
  262. using several disk partitions. You can tell gemini where to look
  263. for a directory name when you do a 'cd Directory'. It's also very
  264. handy when you are using a lot of directories.
  265.  
  266. For example, if you are using the partitions C..F and you have
  267. a directory called 'UTILITY' and is located on drive E:,
  268. CD looks for the directory 'UTILITY' on drive E: only if you have
  269. specified drive E: in CDPATH (CDPATH=C:\;D:\;E:\;F:\).
  270. When you are for example in the directory 'C:\EDITOR\WORDPLUS\DOCS'
  271. and you do a cd UTILITY, gemini will succeed in finding it.
  272. When GEMINI finds it, it also prints the full path of the
  273. directory. Hope you now know where CDPATH is use for.

  285. documentation for gemini? Even the full english version has the documentation
  286. in German. If anyone has any idea, please reply to me via email, not to the list

  345. Every time I cock up my boot partition (and it happens frequently; I seem to
  346. attract cruddy software) I just do the obvious -- power the hard disk down,
  347. boot from floppy, switch the drive on when the machine's booted safely (I
  348. use a disk with no ACCs or AUTO programs for ``emergencies'' like this -- it
  349. contains AHDI, Gulam and Disk Doctor) and run AHDI (you may need ICDBOOT or
  350. whatever) from the desktop, use ``Install'' to put C: back on the
  351. desktop, delete whatever's causing me any problems from \ and \auto,
  352. then power up again. Everything works then.

  354. It works for me and is a lot less drastic than formatting...

  384. There _used to_ be an archive full of Mac fonts (Geneva, Chicago, Elvish and
  385. a few other bits'n'pieces) converted to GDOS format on the Atari archive at
  386. uk.ac.lancs.pdsoft. (You can't access it from the Internet, it's only
  387. on JANET). I did download it at one point and play with the fonts
  388. inside Degas and EasyDraw, but I don't have them any more....

  417. CBHD V3.7 works flawlessly with any HDplus from Vortex. I never heard of any
  418. GDOS problems.

  492. an illegal modification of the original neochrome. Thus, you won't find

  506.  I am about to see on a purchase of a TT from a friend who knows
  507. another friend which is selling the machine.  I think he mention of
  508. around the price of $1000.00 without a monitor.  I of course could
  509. not believe the price was that low, but if it is I'm taking it!
  510. I needed to know some info before asking of it.

  512.         1) The TT is it a 32-BIT architecture?

  514.         2) Any expansion slots?  (how many and what are they 8/16/32?)

  516.         3) MUTI-TASKING MACHINE RIGHT?

  520.         5) What is the maximum memory addressable.

  522.         6) LAST question is ASSEMBLY develop for the TT available?

  524. I would ask some of these questions to the seller, but it would seem the
  525. seller would not know of these things otherwise he would probably sell

  632. is at home, not here!) but I'll check and post the correct prices if I've

  635.         Just out of interest has anybody seen any TT-specific programs out
  636. there which really make use of the beast's power ?  I've heard about a new
  637. art package which handles TT-low and TT-high screen resolutions but that's
